Isn't it very frustrating that those anti-eye bag creams that you apply ritualistically every night do not work? Even if they do work, those puffy eye bags keep coming back after a few days to haunt you?

Why is this the case? Well, for most people, probably including you, the tendency of acquiring puffy eye bags and dark eye circles are genetically inherited. However, it can be prevented or diminished if you make it a habit to take good care of your under eye skin. This is because the skin under the eye is very thin and if neglected in your daily skin care routine, eye circles are easily formed, especially if you are genetically predisposed to it.

1) Apply Retinol Cream Retinol is derived from vitamin A which has been proven to unclog pores, boost collagen production, and at the same time gives impetus to cell exfoliation and regeneration and can also lighten up any skin discoloration. At the same time, it is also a powerful antioxidant. Since retinol helps to repair and enhance the natural production of collagen and elastin, it therefore plays a big part in improving skin elasticity, suppleness and firmness.

As a side note, Retinol can also be used to treat people with vitamin A deficiency in its oral form or it can also be delivered by intramuscular injections.

However, in some countries, this cream can only be bought under a doctor's prescription as there are some side effects that comes along with it and so it is wiser to consult your doctor to see if it is suitable for you. In others, you can purchase a toned down version of retinol over the counter in a pharmacy without any prescription at all.

2) Apply Preparation H - Some people may want to puke at this idea because Preparation H is commonly used for the treatment of anal
hemorrhoids or piles. However, the same principle applies as its active ingredients will cause the capillaries in the under eye skin to shrink and in the process reduces and even removing the under eye puffiness and dark circles. You can get this preparation easily at your nearby pharmacy or grocery store as no prescription is needed for this ointment.

3) Take Antihistamine - You may not know this until you try it out because for some people, dark eye circles are actually be a manifestation of certain allergic reactions. You will know whether yours is caused by an allergic reaction by simply popping an
antihistamine pill such as Zyrtec or Piriton (Chlorpheniramine) before you sleep and see if there is any improvement to your under eye skin the next day. However, since antihistamines are medication drugs, do this only sparingly or only when required such as when attending an important occasion in order to look better.

4) Sleeping With Head Higher Up - This is quite a common home eye bag removal home remedy. If you get puffy eyes, especially in the morning when you have just woken up, it could be due to the way you were sleeping. Consider sleeping on your back with your head higher up (for example sleeping on two pillows instead of just one pillow). This will prevent bodily fluid from accumulating under your eyes causing eye puffiness in the morning.

5) Skin Lighteners -  If your dark eye circles are caused by skin pigmentation, then you may want to use this proven skin lightener to improve your under eye skin color and tone. Furthermore, to prevent the dark pigmentation from coming back, slap on some sunscreen when you are outdoor so as not to expose yourself too much to the sun's skin damaging ultra-violet rays.

6) Get Enough Sleep - This is a no brainer, yet many people are still not getting enough 40 winks. It is sheer common sense that the lack of sleep causes you to look haggard and having those sagging eye bags to be more pronounced and apparent. So get enough good sleep to remove eye bags more effectively. If you have problem falling asleep easily or you are suffering from insomnia, then you may like to read this article.

7) Lesser Salt Intake - Eat less salty food. Look at the food labels to check for sodium content before you make your purchases. You will also have to abstain from sprinkling more salt on your french fries or your sunny side up eggs. Excessive salt consumption not only can
raise your blood pressure, it also causes water retention culminating as your eye puffiness because of the accumulation of fluid in the skin under your eyes.

8) Drink More Water - The emphasis is on good old plain water, not any beverages with added sugar, preservatives and other chemicals for taste. You see, when you are well hydrated, your skin will be more supple and brighter. On the other hand, when you don't drink enough water and when you are dehydrated, your body reacts to this condition by retaining as much water as it can and in doing so, causing eye puffiness because of the fluid retention therein.

9) Alcohol Abstention - I am not suggesting that you become a teetotaler, however do not imbibe in alcohol excessively. Alcohol dehydrates you, just like point 8 above, when you are dehydrated, your body tries retain water thus causing eye puffiness. Furthermore, alcohol is a diuretic that makes you pass urine more frequently flushing out not only water but also electrolytes. Just take a look at a regular drinker's eyes or a person who just had too much alcohol and this will surely convince you, wouldn't it?

10) Take Collagen Supplement - Collagen works magic on to your skin causing it to be more elastic and supple and thus preventing wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin and dark eye bags. Our skin was once upon a time smooth and bright when we were kids or in our teens. That was because our bodies produced much more natural occurring collagen way back then. But as we get older, the natural production of collagen starts to decline dramatically and that is why we need to supplement our collagen intake and to boost collagen production naturally.

11) Regular Exercise - Regular exercise improves our cardiovascular health and blood circulation and in turn improve our skin tone and suppleness and as such will reduce eye bags and dark circles. On top of this, regular exercise will also bring to you a host of health benefits too. So why not start hitting the gym regularly from today onward?

Further more, the vitamins and minerals nourishes the skin making it look more youthful and radiant. You can use Argan oil nightly and in the morning by simply applying a small amount on your under eye skin and leave it the through the night and through the day. 1)What is lower eyelid blepharoplasty? - Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to extract out the excess fat and to tighten up the lower eyelid skin. This surgical technique is carried out so as to reduce the unwanted sight of puffy and droopy lower eyelids. Since the surgery also lightens up the skin, the end result can be rather obvious.

The main causation of puffy eye bags are as a result of the herniating fat, excessive skin and water retention just under the skin. The surgeon carrying out the procedure must know in detail how much fat and skin needs to be removed. If the surgery went awry, it can result in the lower lid retraction and other complications that can have negative effects on the appearance of your eyes. Since the botched up eyelid retraction is very difficult to reverse and thus the patient may need an extensive reconstructive surgery repair the blunder. It is for this very reason that finding a good and experienced surgeon is of paramount importance should you opt for lower eyelid blepharoplasty to eliminate your eyebags.

The alternative is that you can opt for the laser blepharoplasty procedure which is very similar to the traditional under the surgeon's knife method. The main difference between the two methods is that in laser blepharoplasty, a CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser blocks off the blood vessels during surgery, while the traditional nip and tuck method does not have this effect. The sealing of the blood vessels will greatly reduce inadvertent bruising and swelling from the surgical procedure. Furthermore your surgeon can carry out the procedure more precisely since there will be less bruises or swellings to contend with and as such making the laser option much more safer than the under the lancet method.

2) Can dermal filler injections help to remove eyebags? This is because I don't want to do surgery to remove my eye bags. - The dermal filler injection procedure usually uses Hyaluronic Acid (HA) as a filler to treat eye bags with reasonably good results. The HA filler is injected into the skin to hydrate and rejuvenate the problem areas.

Aesthetic doctors and dermatologists will usually use a blunt tip needle to inject and fill up the hollows under the eyes. The blunt needle is used so as to prevent bruisings and injuries to the skin tissues as much as possible.

Dermal filler when injected under the eye reduces or even eradicate dark eye circles look. It also hydrates the area and stretches out the skin so as to eliminate the sunken eye look as well so that you don't look like a zombie. The HA will also improve the skin texture and tone and at the same time remove the fine lines and wrinkles under and around the eyes. In other words, the injection can solve several aesthetic problems simultaneously.

After the injections are done, results will be seen to improve gradually and will usually reach its maximum potential in about three to four days time. The result of the treatment should last around eight months to a year depending on individual conditions.

Some people may experience temporary redness and some swelling immediately after the injections are made. Fortunately these side effects will go away by itself, usually within a day or two at most.
